Ferry Services Cancelled Due To Weather
[Updated] Due to the current inclement weather being experienced due to Hurricane Sandy all ferry services on Green, Blue and Orange Routes have been suspended. The Transport Ministry also noted that the Pink Route may have some interruptions.
The Bermuda Weather Service has said that strong winds with gale force gusts will continue today [Oct 29].
Update 12.30pm: The Sea Express Ferry Service has advised that the Blue & Green Routes will resume as of 1:30pm today while the Orange Route will remain suspended for the duration of the day. The Pink Route is operating to schedule.
These ferries are catamarans that should easily handle the waves in the Sound. This is not open ocean, it’s the protected Sound. Just sayin’….
Was there any reason that Marine & Ports could not have made this announcement earlier? Many people were left standing waiting for the ferries this morning with no notice. It’s ridiculous that no one in that department can get their act together……….those ferries could have easily gone out as scheduled this morning. That’s what they were made for. Pitiful !!!
While we in Bermuda have minor issues from Sandy, can we please pray for the Tall Ship “THE BOUNTY” that was here in Bermuda, as it’s just being reported in US News as some crew are missing and some were rescued. Maybe BERNEWS can pick up on this story and report it, as ” The Bounty” was very popular when it was a part of the fleet that came to Bermudawith the Tall Ships. Thanks
