Now Open: Hiscox’s 2013 Graduate Scheme
Hiscox’s 2013 graduate scheme is now open to Bermudian [under]graduates interested in applying for trainee roles in either underwriting or analytics and research. As the 2013 scheme opens, the 2012 graduate intake have taken up their roles, with Bermudian Matthew Sinclair joining Hiscox Bermuda as an Operations Trainee.
Hiscox’s 2013 graduate scheme for graduates aiming to start work in September 2013, is looking for Bermudians graduating next year [or who previously graduated in 2011 or 2012]. Applicants must have a minimum upper second [2:1] or first class degree [UK], or a GPA of 3.2 or above [US/Canada], as well as strong analytical and communication skills.
With the search underway for next year’s graduates, this year’s successful graduates have now joined the company including Matthew Sinclair who has taken up his role as Operations Trainee. He is the second Bermudian to join Hiscox’s graduate scheme following Nicholas Thuell who joined Hiscox in 2010.
Mr Sinclair, who has a Bachelor of Science, majoring in psychology, from The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, was born and raised in Bermuda, where he attended Mount Saint Agnes Academy. Based in Hiscox’s Bermuda office, his two year programme includes a placement in Hiscox’s London office as well as further opportunities in Hiscox’s European/US offices.
Mr Sinclair said: “Following my graduation I wanted more than an entry level position. Hiscox appealed to me because of the emphasis on being given a high level of responsibility from an early stage, as well as the focus on learning and professional development. I’m looking forward to the challenge ahead and getting to know the business both here in Bermuda and in Hiscox’s worldwide offices.”
Commenting on his arrival, Christina Herzog, HR Manager at Hiscox Bermuda, said: “We have set very high standards for our graduate recruitment and are pleased to welcome Matthew to the Hiscox family.
“He will experience a varied and challenging two year programme based both here in Bermuda and in our offices worldwide, with exposure to different parts of our business. On completion of the graduate scheme, he will be a welcome addition to our operations team here in Bermuda.
“We are now looking for more Bermudians to follow in Matthew’s footsteps in 2013 and welcome applications from students keen to pursue a career in either underwriting or analytics and research.”
