Oct 25-28: Bermuda Corporate Games
The Bermuda Corporate Games, which will make its inaugural debut for the Atlantic region in Bermuda from October 25-28, 2012, is open to all for the benefit of all and any level of fitness is welcome.
The Bermuda Corporate Games is the world’s largest multi-sport festival and has been staged in 25 countries around the world over the past 25 years, attracting over 20,000 companies and 1 million athletes. Everyday athletes compete in one of 18 different sports in a spirit of friendly competition, and can range in age from 16 to 60.
According to Craig Brown, the owner of Apex Physio Therapy and Sports Injury Clinic, and the Sports Director for the Bermuda Corporate Games, the Bermuda Corporate Games is a great kick-start for increasing team fitness levels and goals within an organization, which can continue long after the Games are over.
The sports are structured to cater to participants with varying levels of ability, offering open as well as age categories. With medals and points to be won in all 137 categories, it gives athletes of all ages and fitness levels a chance for a podium finish and also to wear their medals into the office.
Participants can choose to compete in one of the following 18 sports: Badminton, Beach Volleyball 4’s, Golf, Field Hockey, Netball, Rugby 7’s, Running, Sailing 420’s, Soccer, Softball, Squash, Swimming, Long distance running, Tennis, Tenpin Bowling, Touch Rugby and Triathlon.
Mr Brown commented, “With four weeks left before the Games, setting a goal to work on your level of fitness is definitely achievable. The average athlete can gain benefits from participating in a well-structured fitness regime that can incorporate cardio-vascular health i.e. 30-40 minutes of medium intensity exercise, 3-4 times per week, and include eating nutritious, well-balanced meals.
“When people can work towards a common goal, it can help to build camaraderie and team spirit within the workplace and establishing that team spirit and fitness benefits everyone, helping the organization exceed its expectations. It’s a win-win for everyone. As we say in sports, the word TEAM stands for: Together Everyone Achieves More- fitness!
