Sandys Showtime Drumline Head Overseas

October 3, 2012

The Sandys Showtime Drumline left Bermuda today [Oct 3] heading overseas to perform in front of an estimated 100,000 strong crowd at the Circle City Classic Parade being held in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The group is under the direction of Troy Washington Sr, and consists of 27 talented young people from Sandys Middle School, Berkeley and CedarBridge who range from 11 to 15 years old.

The group have also been invited to perform at a few local colleges as well as joining in on a rehearsal session with Purdue College. This will be the group’s second visit to the parade but the first time they will actually be performing and being judged.

“Pageantry, celebrities, floats and marching bands make this one of top parades in the country”, is how the Circle City Classic website describes the parade.

“Nearly 100,000 spectators watch the Classic Parade weave its way through downtown Indianapolis. Parade Grand Marshals have included renowned celebrities such as Jerry Rice, Kelly Rowland, Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, Soulfood’s Boris Kodjoe and Grammy Award-winning gospel recording artist, Yolanda Adams.”
