Six Jailed For 24 Hour Gas Station Brawl
Magistrate Khomisi Tokunbo sentenced six young men to between 9 months and 6 months in prison for taking part in a gang attack at the Hamilton 24 hour gas station on Par-la-ville Road in August 2011. Taking place after midnight, the fight saw Grievous Bodily Harm [GBH] inflicted on another man and a young woman.
Rakai Paul [19], who said that it was his birthday and that the others were celebrating with him received the longest sentences. Nine months for causing GBH, six months for causing Actual Bodily Harm [ABH] to the young woman, and 30 days for damaging gas station property.
The remaining five, Brian Batson [20], Jahfari Raynor [21], Sadune Raynor [19], Akiri Trott [21], and Umdae Woolridge [23], received sentences of six months each for GBH to the man, and thirty days for damaging gas station property.
Akiri Trott and Sadune Raynor each received additional sentences of four months for causing ABH to the young woman.
The Magistrate ruled that all sentences were to be concurrent with each other, which means that the maximum time served will be nine months for Paul and six months for each of the others.
Woolridge has already spent time in custody and this time will be taken into consideration, so he will be the first person due for release. On release, each of the six must undergo twelve months probation with alcohol and drug restrictions and be subject to random drug tests.

If these idiots like to *allegedly* fight so much we should just turn the national stadium into a colloseum, web cast it, and make money off of them. I’d like to see 2 of them take on 6 lions.

@ SAD & PS
WHAT????????????????
Some people actually have no lives. There is more to life and this world than Bermuda, more to life than Parkside and 42nd and MOB and MEC and all that other bullsh!t. There are wars going on in Syria, conflicts in Africa, BDA government is a mess and you actually have time to fight over something as simple as a territory that does not belong to you. Grow up. You have kids and kids on the way, do something constructive with your lives, stop playing victim and get your a$$es up and out there and do something productive that doesnt involve shooting people, jumping people or robbing people. I have heard the sad stories over and over, “I grew up without my mom” “My dad left us” “I had no one” Well you know what society does not give a sh!t after you turn 18. You wan do big mon tings yuh get big mon treatment. So don’t complain, don’t speak and don’t try to advocate the idea that the system has failed you because the truth is you have all failed yourselves.
@JEN–Africa is a continent, exactly what part of Africa is in conflict?Europe Asia and America are going through continual conflict on a daily, hourly basis..Many parts of Africa are doing far better than the rest of the world! but regardless we must deal with where we are,and this is an issue for a lot of reasons, not just some thug life! I guess the rugby players that come here are also thugs they are always drunk brawling!
@Jenn… You are on point! Despite the circumstances they grew up in they had the choice to rise above and create a different path. It’s a shame they can’t be a leader instead of a following.
Jenn, you are so right! These wannabees think life is a big movie, starring THEM. Life is not a movie and this lot will end up dead or in Westgate over land they don’t own, drugs that will harm, and women no one else wants; not even them, if they are honest. Life is NOT one big fantasy of shoot ‘em up. GROW UP, stop whining! MAN UP! WOMAN UP! Get over your childhoods, and make the life that you thought you deserved back then. If your parents were absent or rotten parents, then living well, doing well is the best payback!
@SAD-YOU MADE THE STATEMENT kEEP YOUR HEARD UP PARKSIDE/DARKSIDE.
SO TELL ME, YOU ARE ACTUALLY TELLING ALL 65,OOO PLUS BERMUDIANS WHO READ THIS SIGHT THAT THESE INDIVIDUALS ARE MEMBERS OF THE PARKSIDE GANG.
THANKS, WE APPRECIATE THE HEADS UP. SO IF I HAVE SEE A RESUME OR APPLICATION WITH ANY OF THESE NAMES I WILL BE SURE TO NEVER INTERVIEW. IF I EVER HEAR THAT THESE NAMES MOVED INTO MY NEIGHBORHOOD THEN I WILL MOVE.
Sick & tired of seeing all these concurrent sentences. What’s with the court system? Are reforms on the agenda?
Spend sequential time for each crime and only be eligible for parole after serving 80%. What’s the point of multiple convictions if there is no additional time… mind boggles.
The current system seems to encourage the oh, it’s only 3 hots & a cot and be with friends mentality.
Put the punk types to work making Casemates barely habitable, then place anyone who is sentenced to more than ten years there.
That MIGHT deter the youngsters to think twice before acting out.
Also anger management taught from primary school onwards.
F#*k parkside n all there afillates …. dease bum a%s n%$#$s do nttin but cuz trouble .. mess up people businesses n money …. b$%ch n$%#az ka neva shoot a 1 on 1… dey all punks… n still wondering hw these punks get out afta they been in the same situation time afta time …… let me catch em …. … let them out n the war continues dumb #ss f%$%#d up system
Keep your head up kai, this article doesn’t give an accurate description of your character. Do the time and make better choices next time bra. Oh and to everyone who understandably feels that these guys deserve their time, just think about the situations surrounding their up bringing and current living situation…. The government created gangs not the young men involved in them. They are but numbers a percentage of young men who because of government choices were inevitably destined to join a gang or participate in anti-social behavior.
Keep yuh head up dunny,Fari nd Kiri we love yu & miss you
