St. Peter’s Church Commemorative Stamp

The Bermuda Post Office’s Philatelic Bureau has released a commemorative stamp series honouring the 400th Anniversary of St. Peter’s Church.

This series consists of four stamps that captures a view of the Clock Tower, the massive 12-branched chandelier against the background of a section of the roof, showing white limestone slate supported by lathe and rafters, which offers a glimpse of traditional building techniques used in Bermuda, the bronze plaque designating the separate burial section for slaves and free persons and the welcoming-arm steps at the present entrance.

This release represents the fourth commemorative stamp issue for the year, and continues the Bermuda Post Office’s efforts to portray all facets of Bermuda’s heritage, culture and history.

The stamps are available in values of 0.35c, 0.95c, $1.10 and $1.25; official First Day covers with liner $5.50; set of stamps $3.65. The Post Office advises that orders may be pre-paid for collection or mailing on the day of issue at the General Post Office or any sub-Post Office.

The next stamp issue will commemorate Diamond Jubilee – Coronation for release February 2013
