Amnesty International Letter Writing Event

December 4, 2012

Amnesty International Bermuda is organising a letter writing event on Saturday 8th December, 2012 from 9am to 4pm outside the Bermuda Public Library on Queen Street.

A spokesperson said: “A simple card or letter brings hope and comfort to those suffering human rights abuses. We would like you to send a personal message to one or more of the individuals and communities that feature in this year’s Write for Rights campaign for which I have attached the case sheets for you to review.

“We shall have letters and postcards available for signing and encourage you to bring letters of your own to be included in the mailing.

“Be encouraged to invite friends and family to come along and be part of the global movement, and to use their freedom of expression to stand up for the freedom of others.”

In many countries human rights are violated on a daily basis and that’s why I think the activities carried out by various international organizations in this particular area need our support more than ever. I am happy that my native Toronto is also commemorating the International Human Rights Day by taking part in the biggest letter-writing event of the year.
