Dec 17: Public Schools Closed For The Election
The Ministry of Education is reminding parents and the public that all Government schools will be closed on the day of the General Election, Monday Dec. 17.
The Island’s public schools will serve as Polling Stations in various constituencies, and school activities will be suspended on election day. The Ministry advised that school will resume on Tuesday December 18.
The Government schools being used as Polling Stations include:
Young Progressive
Again parents are put to the test. Try to keep your job if you have one but here is another day that you have to figure out what to do with your children. Many will have to take a day off of work. The government has so much foresight it makes me sick. Call the election this late you might as well wait 2 more days until the children are out anyway when proper camps are running. The government again falls short of standing strong for the people. But this is no surprise!
Missed 2 days for a storm that never came and now this.angered is so right.
Makes you wonder……l
So wait, entire schools are closed because the Gymnasiums are being used? Really? I am sure it would be more sensible to simply move all PE lessons to the field that day – (or how about an extra math lesson instead?)….. Is it we can’t manage the security risk this would pose for the students? or is this a parking issue? Sad when we as parents are put in a tough spot continuously.
Did the premier not have the school dates when calling this election? I believe she must have yet she had the option of choosing a day when school would have already been out and didn’t. Again the government has shown their flagrant disregard for the integrity of our children’s educational system. When will they be making up the 3 days of school they have lost due to government closure? Brainwash education to make us the fools.
