Prince Of Wales Continues Masterworks Support
The Masterworks Museum of Bermuda said they are pleased to announce that His Royal Highness, Prince Charles, renewed his patronage to the Museum for a further five years. Prince Charles has been a patron of the Museum since 2003.
Founder of the Museum, Tom Butterfield, comments: “To have HRH commit his patronage for a further five years tells me we must be doing something right! He is a busy man who supports over 400 charities internationally and at home. We are honoured to be included in his areas of interest.”
For more than 35 years The Prince of Wales has been a leader in identifying charitable needs which included establishing charities and driving them forward to meet their goals. From the early days of The Prince’s Trust his charitable interests have grown to a level where 17 of his charities represent the largest multi-cause charitable enterprise in the UK. The charities are active in a broad range of areas and some these include the Built Environment, Responsible Business and Enterprise as well as Young People and Education.
He has always been a strong supporter of the arts with five of his charities in this area under Young People and Education. “Along the way he has supported the Museum with auction items to help raise money and our profile. To paraphrase HRH, art appreciation is all the greater when seen from a community context. Masterwork’s collection offers a window to the soul, spirit of the community, its values and traditions.”
While Prince Charles has never personally made a visit to the Museum, the Museum was honoured by a visit from HRH The Duchess of Gloucester in 2008., who presided over the official opening of the Museum. It was a most successful visit and all at Masterworks hope that it will not be the last Royal visit the Museum ever experiences.
