Ferry Reach Mountain Bike Race Series Results
The 2013 Bicycle Works Mountain Bike Race Series was held today [Feb 3] at Ferry Reach Park. In sunny conditions, the 70 riders took to the 1.5 mile course, which challenged all of the riders’ skills with a combination of technical downhills, brutal uphill climbs and unforgiving rock gardens.
In the Male A Class, Neil de St Croix continued his dominance of the class, but not without a strong challenge from Brian Steinoff who finished second. Mark Hatherly placed third.
In the Male B Class, Daniel Oately returned after a week away from racing to finish first, followed by Ian Port in second and Kareem Johnson in third. In the Female B Class, Gabriella Arnold took top honors over Ashley Kirkpatrick.
In the Novice Male Class, Kyle Constable took top honors, followed by Jason Thomas in second and Craig Ferguson in third. In the Junior 13-16 Female Class, Tristan Narraway took line honors, with Alyssa Rowse placing second and Jessie Godfrey taking third.
In the Junior 13-16 Male Class, Matthew Olivera won first place, with Christian Oatley in second and Alex Bordage in third.
Amongst the under 12 Males, Nahje Smith took first place, followed by Kaleb Madeiros in second and Charlie Davis in third, while in the under 12 females, Kayla Raymond took line honors.
Racing continues next week with the introduction of a new race format. Coney Island is a new track for the series this year, and the 4-Cross Eliminator race, which promises to be an exciting event for competitors and spectators alike, starts at 9:00am next Sunday, February 10th.
