Media Council Appoints Two New Members
The Appointments Committee of the Media Council of Bermuda have appointed two new members – Robin Henagulph and Rosemary Jones.
Mr. Henagulph, a retired police officer, and Ms Rosemary Jones [pictured], a journalist and author, will serve on the eight-member panel that hears complaints against the media.
Mr. Henagulph replaces Rebecca Davies as a lay representative while Ms Jones replaces Tom Vesey as the print media representative. Both Ms Davies and Mr. Vesey moved overseas last year.
Mr. Henagulph served for 25 years in the Bermuda Police Service, retiring as Chief Inspector. Ms. Jones is president and editorial director of Brimstone Media Ltd., and is a journalist with more than 20 years experience.
The two join chairman Christian Luthi, vice-chairman Wendell Emery, Amanda Outerbridge, Kelly Francis, Charles Webbe and Qian Dickinson. The appointments were made by the Appointments Committee, which comprises chairperson Ms. Venous Memari, Mr. Leopold Mills and Ms. Myra Virgil.
February 2013 marks the second year the Council has been in operation. To date, the Council dealt with two formal cases against the media — one of which resulted in the Worker’s Voice withdrawing from the Council.
