Women’s & Men’s Weekend Hockey Results
The hockey pitch at the National Sports Center saw action from both the men’s and women’s divisions this past weekend. The women’s division saw the Swallows defeat Longtails 6 – 2 while Budgies went down to the Ravens 5 – 0. Upstarts defeated the Spartans 4 – 1 in the men’s game.
Women’s Division: Swallows 6 Longtails 2
Jennifer Hale gave the Swallows the lead in the 3rd minute when she scored from a penalty corner. Three minutes later Hale scored her second and her teams second from another penalty corner.
Kayla Kellman put the Swallows 3 – 0 up in the 9th minute when she scored a field goal and then Hale completed her hat-trick with a penalty corner goal in the 20th minute.
Liz Stewart extended the Swallows lead with a field goal in the 31st minute, but Maha Clarke pulled a goal back for the Longtails when she scored field goal in the 48th minute.
Hale restored the Swallows five goal lead when she scored her fourth in the 51st minute scoring a field goal. Rebecca Gibbons scored from a penalty corner for the Longtails in the 60th minute.
Women’s Division: Ravens 5 Budgies 0
Kristin Morbey put the Ravens on the scoreboard in their 5 – 0 win over the Budgies in the 6th minute scoring a field goal. Megan Troake doubled the Ravens lead in the 40th minute converting from a penalty corner.
Kristina Viera made it 3 – 0 two minutes later scoring from a Field Goal then Katie Masters got in on the scoring act with a field goal in the 48th minute. Georgia Harris closed out the scoring in the 50th minute with a penalty corner goal.
Men’s Division: Spartans 1 Upstarts 4
The Upstarts took the lead in the 24th minute when Donny Moniz scored from a penalty stroke. Colin Van Den Bosch doubled the Upstarts lead in the 31st minute scoring a field goal and in the 55th minute Moniz scored from a penalty corner to give the Upstarts a 3 – 0 lead
Two minutes later Van Den Bosch scored his second field goal of the game to make the score 4 – 0. Donnie Simmons scored a consolation field goal in the 61st minute for the Spartans.
