2013 Carifta Track & Field Day #1 Report

Bermuda ended the first day of the 2013 Carifta Games in the Bahamas with two silver medals, courtesy of top class performances by Sakari Famous in the high jump and Kyrah Scraders in the 1500m.

Bermuda also saw strong showings from Dage Minors and Kerri Furbert, who placed 4th and 5th respectively.

Quinn Simmons finished the Under 20 Boys Discus Throw 9th with his best attempt being 36.71m. In the Under 17 Girls Shot Put Tiara Derosa finished 7th with her best toss of 11.83m.

In the Under 17 Boys 400 Meter Dash Michaiah Robinson finished 10th overall clocking 49.96, while Antonio Bailey clocked 50.88 finishing 11th, Rachel Fox advanced to the Under 20 Girls 400 Meter Dash Final after she clocked the 8th fastest time 58.43.

Kionje Somner finished 11th in the Under 17 Boys 100m Dash clocking a time of 11.31. Taahira Butterfield finished with the 10th fastest qualifying time during the Under 20 Girls 100m Dash when she was clocked across the line in 12.23. Jeneko Place’s time of 11.04 saw him record the 12th fastest time in the Under 20 Boys 100m Dash.

Quaashie Douglas finished 5th in the Under 17 Women’s 1500m clocking 5:42.44, while Dage Minors crossed the line 4th in the Under 20 Boys 1500m in 4:04.90 and Juma Mouchette finished 8th clocking 4:13.06.

Rachel Fox ran 59.85 competing in the Under 20 Girls 400m Dash Final and Kerri Furbert finished 5th in the Under 20 Girls Long Jump with a top leap of 5.57m.
