Bermuda’s 2013 Carifta Team Announced

March 11, 2013

The Bermuda National Athletic Association has announced the track and field athletes who have been selected for the 2013 Carifta Games, which will be held in the Bahamas from March 28 – April 1.

BNAA President Donna Watson said, “You will note that we have 2 groups that have been selected and because of several reasons, one being we have a number of seats put aside for the athletes on the charter which have been paid for, athletes who have qualified for the World Youth Championships and we want to assist them in their preparation.

“We are a caring association and want to give our athletes as much opportunities as we can and we gave the coaches an opportunity to present a case for unqualified athletes and all of the coaches voted on each athlete and approved the selection and this was then passed on to the Board who have approved this team.

“There are conditions of course specifically for the unqualified athletes (commitment in training, missing no days of training from now until the team leaves, consistent performances in any track meets from now until the team leaves). We will also be having all athletes analyzed for injuries before they leave Bermuda. Any niggling injury they will not be boarding the plane.”
