“Francesca Da Rimini” Opera Broadcast At BUEI

April 18, 2013

The Gilbert & Sullivan Society is inviting locals to spend a night at the opera on Saturday [Apr. 20] when they will be showing a live HD broadcast of Zandonai’s “Francesca da Rimini” at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute [BUEI] Tradewinds Auditorium.

The Metropolitan Opera’s ravishingly beautiful production is the first staging of Zandonai’s compelling opera by the New York company since 1986.

Inspired by an episode from Dante’s “Inferno”, “Francesca da Rimini” features dramatic soprano Eva-Maria Westbroek and tenor Marcello Giordani as the doomed lovers. Marco Armiliato conducts.

Sung in Italian, with English subtitles, the opera runs approximately four hours and 15 minutes [including an interval]. The screening begins at 5 p.m. Tickets are available at www.premierticketsglobal.com
