Garbage Collection Worker Exposed To Acid

April 19, 2013

Ambulance Trash Truck Southside Bermuda, April 19 2013A week after two garbage collection workers were splashed with acid, another garbage collection worker was exposed to acid again today [Apr 19].

The worker went to the Southside Police Station earlier this afternoon, where he was transported to hospital via ambulance.

Last Friday morning two garbage collection workers were splashed with what appeared to be Muriatic Acid, a power acid normally used for the cleaning of swimming pools, that was put out for collection in a regular garbage bag.

The Public Works Ministry addressed the situation, asking residents not to place hazardous substances in their garbage, and instead take advantage of the Special Waste Days held during the year.

In a previous statement the Ministry said while they are “happy to acknowledge these employees have been released from hospital and recovering from their ordeal, the potential exposure to the substance could have been more tragic, so the Ministry reiterates its call for the public to properly dispose of their waste and not place hazardous materials into their garbage.”

Well let’s put you on the back of a trash truck for a week… And leave them uyghers alone, simpleton.

  3. Micro says:

I’m sorry, but most of these incidents happen when compacting, you’d think one would have enough common sense not to stand behind the dump or near it while doing so just in case…

    • Concerned says:

if that was the case they would take two days to complete a route

  4. Richard Martin (fake name that sounds real) says:

… end of the day, whether its his fault or not, strong acid should not be in general garbage… for environment, health, etc it just should not be there.

  5. Opressed says:

If he knew the bottle was more than half full(as stated on the evening news last night), would you have compacted it? They’re looking for a pay raise.

  6. Triangle Drifter says:

What makes people so stupid? The dumper is well aware of how dangerous muriatic acid is having used the stuff. It is extremely nasty when it touches anything organic, I.e. human skin.

  7. Jocille Blakeney says:

Government has a place to dump dangerous chemical and just about everyone has a car. Don’t blame the people who work on the trash truck blame those inconsiderate, lazy people who can’t be bothered. SIMPLE.

Government needs to fine people for putting these items in the trash.

  8. .................. says:

It sounds like somebody is doing this on purpose.

  9. real deal says:
