Nahki Wells Scores In Bradford City Victory
[Updated] Bermuda’s Nahki Wells scored the winning goal for Bradford City today [Apr 6] to propel them to a 1-0 win against Northampton.
Bradford City’s blog said Wells took advantage of a defensive mix-up between Nathan Cameron and Lee Nicholls midway through the opening period to tap home from barely a yard out into a unguarded goal. The victory leaves City only two points off the Play-Off places with a game in hand on seventh-placed Exeter City.
This marks Wells 19th goal of the season.
Update: Speaking after the game, Bradford manager Phil Parkinson said, “Nahki is looking sharp again. He has got his rewards for training well and a couple of good performances, but he has got to make sure he continues to produce his form because we have got players on bench chomping at the bit.”
Parkinson added: “Northampton are a very good side and we knew what they were going to do. We knew we had to be very strong and physical against them, but we also knew we had the quality to create opportunities. It was a high-energy game and we were brave with their set pieces while trying to hit them on the counter attack.”
