Teacher’s Cricket Team Competing In St Lucia

April 5, 2013

Members of the Bermuda Union of Teachers headed to St. Lucia to take part in the Caribbean Union of Teachers Biennial Les Harris T20 Cricket Competition.

In 2011, Jamaica won the competition whilst Bermuda where runners up. Competing this year along with Jamaica and Bermuda are Barbados, Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago and hosts St. Lucia.

The teams were treated to a VIP reception, hosted at the official residence of the St. Lucian Prime Minister, with the Education Minister, Sports Minister, President of CUT, President of the St. Lucia Teachers Union and other dignitaries in attendance.

Whilst this was meant to be a social event for the cricketers, one can only observe as the battle lines were drawn and the tacticians were evaluating who was playing on the competing teams.

Bermuda is scheduled for a double fixture on Saturday, and will play Barbados in the morning match at Mindoo Phillip Park, and in the day/night match they will go head to head with Trinidad and Tobago at the Gros Islet Recreation Ground.
