Cricket: BCBNA To Hold National Academy Trials

May 7, 2013

The Bermuda Cricket Board is holding a mid year intake for the Bermuda Cricket Board National Academy [BCBNA] for those players who did not have the opportunity to trial in September 2012.

This will be for players eligible for the Under 13 [born on or after 1st September 2000] and Under 15 National Academy squads [born on or after 1st September 2002].

The trials will be held at the Berkeley Institute nets on Sunday 19 May commencing at 10am. Please register to trial by calling 292 8958. Players will be required to wear whites and should bring their own cricket equipment.

National Coach David Moore said, “The BCBNA is a cutting edge cricket development program that has received ICC recognition and provides high quality one on one and team coaching to players as well as character development activities throughout the training program.

“Thus far the winter program has seen players work in their specialist areas of batting, pace bowling, spin bowling and wicketkeeping. Players have made significant improvement in these skills. It has also seen the U19 squad members mentoring the younger cricketers in both cricket and character development.

“The summer phase of the program will see the players move to an integration of skill development and game sense that will see the players applying the skills that they have learned and developing tactical awareness during a game situation. There will also be further mentoring and guidance from the U19 squad members in both cricket and character development.”

“This trial is a wonderful opportunity for those players that did not have the opportunity to trial in September 2012 to join the program. There are very high expectations of the members of the BCBNA and the ability to maintain the core standards of attendance, discipline, respect, courtesy, learning and enjoyment are key to the continued membership of all players in the Academy.”
