Kerry Congratulates Island On Bermuda Day
American Secretary of State John Kerry encouraged Bermudians to enjoy their traditional first swim of the year and the annual parade through Hamilton as they celebrate Bermuda Day on Friday [May 24].
In a statement issued today [May 21], Mr. Kerry — who replaced Hillary Clinton as the US Secretary of State earlier this year — remarked on cultural, historical and family ties between Bermuda and America which date from the 17th century.
“On behalf of President Barack Obama and the people of the United States, I congratulate the Bermudian people as you celebrate Bermuda Day, ” said Mr. Kerry.
“Our relationship stretches back centuries, and is sustained through deep links ranging from immigration to trade to tourism and, of course, an abiding commitment to democracy.
“It is no small fact that Bermuda is home to the world’s third-oldest, continuous parliament.”
The former Massachusetts Senator — who ran against George W. Bush as the Democratic Presidential nominee in 2004 US election — concluded: “As you celebrate Bermuda Day with a traditional parade and take that first swim of the season at one of your famed beaches, the United States extends greetings of good will and best wishes.”

On some days, I just shake my head at the frequency and times that you post messages on different forums, not to mention talk shows. I’m so glad that I am no longer giving you my hard earned money so that you can read and blog all day. Do the members of the BIU ever take note at how much you post and WHEN you post? If they did , they would see you are not doing your job, which is probably why the BIU was a decade behind in filing their financials.
Do the workers a favour, and work for them! They deserve better for their hard earned money other than a press conference and strike every now and then.

I smile at the comments above and the attacks on Ms Laverne Furbert,but I say before you go attacking Ms Furbert,STOP and remember John Kerry’s plea to the U.S. senate to try and make Bermuda look bad when he wanted the tax loop hole close between Bermuda and the U.S.
So while there are many that think his comments fall on good ground,you can not forget the axe that he was willing to use to cut you out of the pie you in this country enjoy and if he had his way back then we might be singing a different song now.

Mr. Kerry is the one who as Senator of Mass. purchased his mega million yacht and had it registered in Rhode Island so as not to pay Mass. sales tax on it. He also didn’t have any money until he married Theresa Heinz
who inherited her money from her late husband. He was also a Republican (late husband) now she has converted just like Hilary did when Bill was running for President. My My how fast we become turncoats all in the matter of $$$$.
