Canada Cricket Tournament To Resume Today

July 11, 2013

Two storms merged together in the Greater Toronto Area on Monday [July 8] dumping 126 mm of rain in just over one hour. The result caused massive flooding in the City not seen since Hurricane Hazel some 60 years ago. Maple Leaf Cricket Club grounds took on the appearance of a lake. After much hard work by the grounds crew play is set to resume today.

Due to the loss of two days the Technical Committee has now revised the schedule of the tournament from a double round robin format to a single round robin.

The new schedule will see the USA play Canada today [July 11] in the opening match, tomorrow’s contest will pit Bermuda against the USA and Canada will play Bermuda in on the final day on Saturday. The winner of this tournament will go on to the U19 World Cup.

Brief scores of the abandoned match on Monday : USA 194 all out in 44.4 overs. Bermuda 8-2 [3.3 overs].
