Looking Back: 1940s Bermuda Tourism Ads
“This is a dream beyond time, a dream in which this minute, this hour, this golden day, this magic night will endure forever,” declares a Bermuda tourism advertisement from the 1940′s. “This is Bermuda, where dreams are even better.”
The ads promote the beauty of Bermuda, describing the island as having “coral sands”, “flower lined lanes,” “powdery pink sands”, “old world streets” and “magic scented evening air.”
The ads — one of which notes that Bermuda is busy “reconverting from war,” presumably referring to WWII [1939 - 1945] — were produced by The Bermuda Trade Development Board, the appointed body that was the forerunner to Department of Tourism.
Yep.Those were the golden years.
And the PLP flushed our tourism straight down the toilet after dropping a good 14-year turd on top of it. Thanks!

Yes… Those were the days – when Bermuda’s reputation was “stellar” as a TOP world vacation resort and indeed another world!!!
Unfortunately, we will never see those days again – as greed, crime, bad manners and a lack of genuine entertainment (and foresight) have certainly killed the-golden-goose!!
