Photos/Video: Tree Planting Honours Royal Baby

July 30, 2013

Earlier today [July 30], in a symbolic and celebratory gesture, Governor George Fergusson planted a Princess Palm in honour of the recent birth of HRH Prince George of Cambridge.

Two children who were born on the same day as Prince George, July 22, also participated in today’s tree planting. The children’s names, Charlie Calveley and Sofia Nunez will appear on the plaque marking the newly planted tree.

Prince George of Cambridge was born 22 July 2013, as the first child of Prince William and his wife Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge. He is third in line for the throne to succeed his great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.

Following the announcement of the baby’s birth on July 22, the Bermuda Regiment fired a 21 gun salute at Albouys Point, joining with military forces around the United Kingdom and Commonwealth in the symbolic act of respect.
