UK Paying New Regiment Commander’s Salary
The salary for the new Bermuda Regiment Commanding Officer is being paid by the UK Ministry of Defence, while the Bermuda Regiment is paying for his housing, Governor George Fergusson said.
Last month Lt/Col Michael Foster-Brown formally took over command from Lt/Col Brian Gonsalves, becoming the first British soldier to command the Bermuda Regiment, which was formed in 1965 when the Bermuda Militia Artillery and the Bermuda Volunteer Rifle Corps amalgamated.
Prior to taking up the position in Bermuda, Lt/Col Foster-Brown served in Helmand Province in Afghanistan. He also has experience as Adjutant to a Territorial Battalion of his own Regiment, The Rifles, and served with in Iraq.
The Governor said, “Questions have been raised over the salary of the new Commanding Officer of the Bermuda Regiment. The CO’s salary is the standard British Army salary for a Lt Colonel, plus the relevant allowances for a British Army Lt Colonel.
“This salary is being picked up by the UK Ministry of Defence. This was agreed well before he started. The main element being picked up by the Regiment is his housing costs, which comes to less than his salary. This too was agreed early on.
“The remaining bits to be signed off between Bermuda and the UK Ministry of Defence are smaller items, and some legal matters, but we are (I hope) near completion on these too,” concluded the Governor.
According to Armedforces.co.uk, the pay scale for a Lt Colonel ranges from £67,701 – £78,393 [$103,900 -$120,300].

He still leads a worthless regiment who couldn’t save us from a group of two or three highly trained soldiers. Or the taliban which we are told are coming, or might come. Or is it the Spanish?
