Videos: Island Games Opening Entertainment

July 14, 2013

The Opening Ceremony of the 2013 NatWest Island Games featured over 1,000 athletes from around the world, as well as some of Bermuda’s own homegrown talent with United Dance Productions, the Sandys Showtime Drumline, 12-year-old singer Angelis Hunt and the Gombeys all entertaining the crowd.

The Island Games was formed in 1985 and today includes 24 member islands in, or associated with, the nine sovereign nations of Canada, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Norway, Spain, Sweden and the UK, plus the Caribbean.

This year marks the first year they have been held outside of Europe, and athletes from 22 islands made the trek to Bermuda to compete. You can view photo galleries of the Opening Ceremony here, here and here, and all our coverage of the 2013 Island Games here.
