ARS Poetica’s Last Showcase On Thursday
The last installment of the “ARS Poetica” series is going to be held today [Aug 29] at The Chewstick Neo-Griot Lounge & Cafe on Elliot Street from 7.00pm to 10.00pm. The show will start at 8.00pm and entry is $10 with part of the proceeds going to fund the ChewSLAM Teen Poetry Club.
This is the last installment of the “ARS Poetica” series which has seen poetry icons like Vejay Steede. Laurel Monkman, Déjon Antione, Alan C Smith, Stephan Johnstone and more, give audiences an experience of the different vessels, sounds and soul of poetic expression.
A spokesperson said, “Building on this power group of poets showcased in the June 20th and July 18th events, which featured 3 poets, the Thursday August 29th will feature four extraordinary and very different poets, including Tiffany AJ Paynter. Lauren Francis, the Bermuda Library Independent Poets’ (BLiP), Nick Hutchings and Bermuda Folk Life Officer at The Department of Community & Cultural Affairs Dr. Kim Dismont Robinson, in a night about the poetry, about the poets delivering it, uninterrupted, unyielding and raw.
“Come out to see poetry at its purest and as each poet featured in this last installment will further enhance the excellence of the series and leave the audience thoroughly entertained and education on the art of poetry”.
