“Island Perspectives” & “I Am An Island” Shows
Both the “I Am An Island” and the “Island Perspectives” art shows are set to open at 5.30pm on Sunday [Aug 25] at the Bermuda Arts Centre at Dockyard.
“I am an Island” is a juried Member’s show that will run until September 20th, and organisers said they had some very interesting pieces entered ranging from cedar sculptures to jewellery to quilting.
In addition to the opening of “I am an Island,” there will also be solo opening by Lydia Franks, with her show entitled “Island Perspectives.”
As avid lover of creation, Ms Franks was born in the United States in 1958 and raised in the mountains of Virginia. She has an undergraduate degree in Art, went back to get teaching certified and then studied theology.
She has been a resident of Bermuda for over 20 years, is married to Reverend Charly Franks and has homeschooled her sons, Tucker and David. Ms Frank has primarily shown her work at Bermuda Art Centre at Dockyard, the Bermuda Society of the Arts and Masterworks Galleries.
Her works are done mostly in the studio primarily in watercolor. She uses whatever media [pencil, watercolor, watercolor pencil, pastel, gouache, colored pencil, ink, etc.] it takes to show off the “treasures” she finds.
