Colts Cup Match: Somerset Defeat St George’s
Two days after the 2013 Cup Match Classic, Somerset met up with St. George’s at the Colts Cup Match held at the Wellington Oval in St. George’s on Sunday [August 4], with Somerset walking away with the victory.
Colts Cup Match is an annual event traditionally held around the same time as the ‘real’ Cup Match, and includes younger players who have not yet made an appearance in the Cup Match Classic.
At the Wellington Oval the Somerset batted first and were bowled all out for 211, Brian Hall was the top scorer with 43, while Kwasi James added 35. Delray Rawlins was the pick of the St. George’s bowlers with figures of 11-0-44-3, while San’j Dill bowled 10-1-49-3.
In reply the defending champions St. George’s Cricket Club were bowled all out for 135 with only one ball remaining in the days play, Rawlins was the top scorer with 55, while William White added 17. Justin Corday led the Somerset Cricket Club bowling attack returning figures of 17-4-55-6, while Kamal Easton bowled 7-4-10-2.
