Endurance Specialty Holdings Ltd., a Bermuda-based specialty provider of property and casualty insurance and reinsurance, announced that the company is expanding the capabilities of its Asia Pacific reinsurance operations headquartered in Singapore to include a locally based Global Catastrophe Reinsurance team focused on the Asia Pacific markets.

Endurance’s Asia Pacific reinsurance operations are under the leadership of Patrick Aeschbacher, who joined Endurance in 2008 as Head of Asia Pacific and has twenty six years of industry experience, with the last eighteen years in the Asia and Australia markets. Mr. Aeschbacher reports to Jerome Faure, CEO of Global Reinsurance.

Rene Lamer, Senior Vice President and Head of Asia Pacific Property Catastrophe Reinsurance, will transfer to Endurance’s Singapore location at this year’s end, supported by a locally based Property Catastrophe underwriting team. Since joining Endurance in 2002, Mr. Lamer has been responsible for both traditional and alternative catastrophe reinsurance programs spanning Asia, Australia and the Americas. Mr. Lamer, a member of the Global Catastrophe Reinsurance Leadership Team, reports to Stephen Young, Executive Vice President, Chief Underwriting Officer and Head of Global Catastrophe Reinsurance.

Mr. Faure commented, “Bolstering our underwriting resources in this region reflects our deep commitment to the Asia Pacific region. Patrick’s extensive network and specialized experience in this market have generated significant growth over the past 5 years and I am confident in renewed development in the region as we continue to strengthen our Singapore operation.”

Mr. Aeschbacher noted, “Rene’s underwriting acumen and extensive modeling experience have proven to be a valuable resource to our clients and brokers in the region and we are excited that he will be more accessible to them.”

Mr. Young added, “With Rene’s relocation to Singapore, we have substantially increased our capability to write catastrophe reinsurance locally in Singapore. This move will foster greater collaboration between our Asia Pacific business partners and our Global Cat team.”

Mr. Lamer was promoted to Vice President of U.S. Property Catastrophe Treaty Reinsurance in 2006 and Senior Vice President in 2011. Mr. Lamer has also served as Endurance’s Head of Catastrophe Linked Products focusing on alternative catastrophe reinsurance. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Concordia University in Montreal, Canada.
