Injured Crew Member Transferred To Bermuda
On Sunday [Sept 15] a ship diverted and 36-year-old Filipino national was brought to Bermuda after suffering paralysis to the right side of his face.
A Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre spokesperson said, “A satellite telephone call was received from the Master of the M/T Kim Jacob, 140nm southeast of Bermuda enroute from Algeciras, Spain to The Bahamas, reporting a 36 year old crew member suffering from paralysis to the right side of his face.
“Following radio medical advice the ship diverted to Bermuda and transfer of the Filipino national to the Pilot/Rescue cutter St David took place off the east end of the island at 10:30pm on Sunday evening. The patient was subsequently transferred by ambulance from Ordnance Island to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.”
