Sandys 360 Appreciation Cocktail Reception
Tomorrow [Sept 19] Sandys 360 Centre will be hosting an Appreciation Cocktail Reception from 7-9pm, to show appreciation to notable sponsors and donors over the last four years. This will also double as the Fourth Anniversary.
A spokesperson said, “Despite these tough financial times, they still want to show appreciation to those who have supported Sandys 360 over the last four years. This event is a small token of appreciation from the Sandys 360 Family in support of what they do. Attendees will get to see how their contributions have helped continue the work done for the community, and interact with some of the people impacted by it.”
Dr. Melvyn Bassett, Managing Director stated, “Many things have been accomplished in the last few years by the Sandys 360 family; we have grown to become one of the more formidable community organizations on the island. We could not have become this, or continue to do so, without the financial support of our funders. We recognize that we may not have done enough to show our appreciation for these donations, or shown how the funds are being spent; in this event, we want to show both.”
“This event is a chance for our sponsors and donors to meet with us in a relaxed environment, mix and mingle, and learn a little more about the organization they support. Unfortunately, a number of our donors have not had the opportunity to visit the facility. We want to rectify this as well; making it known that the Sandys 360 Centre is not a private facility, but open to the public, donors and general population alike.”
“To keep things interesting during the event, there will be a silent auction and raffle. An interesting mix of items has been donated, from original pieces of art to hotel stays. Though not a specific fundraiser, we hope some funds will be raised to support a few of our programmes. To date, there are eight programmes in which require immediate funding support; the Afterschool Scholar Academy, a new afterschool Programme specifically for middle school students we call The SPOT [Seeking Potential Opportunities Today], Summer Camps, Youth Basketball Academy, Stingrays Swim Team, Longtails Club for persons who have physical and mental challenges, Male Mentoring Programme, and Actively Ageing Seniors.
“We offer other activities and programmes, but these are our most pressing programmes. As the needs and requirements of the community continue through these disturbing times, we want to offer more programme and services, like counselling for youth and adults; skill development workshops, job/career development programmes, and more sporting activities for youth and adults. We look forward to seeing our invited guests on the 19; an enjoyable nights is anticipated for all!”
