Nahki Wells Confident About Return After Injury
Bermudian striker Nahki Wells is confident he can return to his early season scoring form after making his comeback from injury this weekend against Wolverhampton Wanderers after a month long layoff due to an ankle injury.
Wells said, “I am confident I can come back and make the impact I did before I got injured. It is unfortunate that I got injured when I was probably in the best form of my career. I feel I can pick up where I left off, however.
“It only needs one moment for the ball to roll my way and I can get scoring again and get back up and running. I don’t think it will take me too long to get back going because I still feel I have that confidence in front of goal.
“I have set myself a scoring target for this season and anything around that target would be great. I still have it in my mind that I can reach that target.
“We still have 30 plus games to go in the season and I feel I am confident enough to average something like a goal a game or a couple of goals every few games.
“That is a big task but you have to back your ability and believe in yourself. If and when I get back into the team, my main aim is to help City win. The best way I can do that is by chipping in with goals and by working hard for the team.
“Helping to get us back to winning ways is all I want to do. When I can get back into the team, I’ll be back trying to do what I do best which is scoring goals, running around and working hard for the team.
“I feel I have handled the step up (into League 1), and so have City really. As a club, I feel we have been playing some fantastic football this season.
“Not only has it been good for me to reap some rewards for myself, but it has been brilliant to see us in the top six for pretty much since the beginning of the season really.
“It is a great achievement for a club who have just got promoted,” concluded Wells.
