October 14, 2013

BarryBrewerNeptune Group Limited today [Oct 14] announced the immediate appointment of Barry Brewer [pictured] as the President and CEO of Neptune Group Limited, the holding company for Bermuda Container Line Ltd.

The appointment is the result of a strategic decision to in-source the future management of BCL. Mr. Brewer returns to the company that he helped establish with his father and others in the 1980s. Mr. Brewer brings 15 years of local shipping experience and 18 years of international business development and marketing experience to Neptune.

Chairman of the Neptune Board John Wight commented “Mr. Brewer’s family has been in the shipping industry for multiple generations and Barry knows the company and the industry extremely well. Most importantly Barry has 15 years of valued business experience and personal contacts with importers, US shippers, brokers and consolidators.”

“The continued sluggish Bermuda economy and declining cargo volumes require that we are well connected with our customers and responsive to their needs and that we continue to bring new energy and ideas. We are very pleased that Mr. Brewer has agreed to return to BCL”

Mr. Brewer stated “It is critical that shipping services to Bermuda be controlled by the importers for the benefit of the importers. This was why the company was first started by my father and other progressive associates, importers and investors. Over the years I tried to stay connected with BCL’s customers and investors and I am looking forward to helping reinvigorate the profitability of the company and delivering additional customer engagement and value”.
