Video: ‘Silver Spirit’ Returns With Sick Passenger
After departing Penno’s Wharf in St George’s earlier in the day, the “Silver Spirit” cruise ship returned to the island last night [Nov 22] due to a passenger requiring medical care.
The “Silver Spirit” arrived in Bermuda yesterday morning, marking the final cruise ship visit for the East End for the year. It left, then diverted back in the evening due to a Swiss national on board requiring medical attention.
A Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre spokesperson said that at 7.40pm yesterday evening, personnel on the cruise ship called to say they were returning to the island as a passenger required medical care.
The pilot boat St David’s met the cruise ship at 9.45pm at the sea buoy and the sick passenger was transferred to the pilot boat.
The ship’s doctor also traveled with the passenger, who was taken to Ordnance Island in St George’s and transferred to a waiting ambulance.
The ship’s doctor was taken back to the cruise ship, which continued on its way to Ft Lauderdale in Florida.
