10 Videos: Performances During New Year’s Eve

Crowds of people made their way to the East End to bring in the New Year, attending the celebrations held on St George’s Town Square. New Year’s Eve revelers enjoyed a host of music and entertainment, as well as food, fireworks and and the traditional onion drop.

There were performances by local musicians Larrita Adderley, Rickeesha Binns, Corvin Melody, Zenji San, Elevelz, Sister Mandy and Wendell “Shine” Hayward. The St. George’s Original Dancerettes and A-Team dance groups also entertained the crowd, while Qian Dickinson served as the MC.

After St George’s Mayor Garth Rothwell counted down the onion drop, the crowd made their way onto and over the bridge to Ordnance Island to watch the fireworks display over St George’s Harbour.

The Corporation of St. George’s received sponsorship from corporate and east end politicians to continue this annual New Year’s Eve event. Sponsors include Meyers, Butterfield & Vallis, Bentley Mutual Insurance Co, Burrows & Lightbourne, Somers Supermarket, Dowling’s Gas Station, Wahoo’s, Golden Wong, and VIP Auto.
