Centre Online Develops Legal Information Portal

January 14, 2014

Summaries of Bermuda constitutional/human rights cases, and relevant international treaties and conventions are now available to the general public online following a major initiative by Centre for Justice aimed at improving access to justice.

“For members of the public who are not lawyers, this should be valuable information,” says Venous Memari, Director for Centre for Justice.“At times, the law can be daunting to the non-lawyer, and yet it is our system of justice that protects our rightsWe believe that access to and understanding of our legal system is essential to protect human rights and access to justice.”

The information is on Centre for Justice’s website and cases can be accessed by date, topic and name. This material will be updated regularly.

In addition, Centre for Justice has developed a legal library at its office at The Armoury Building on Reid Street. Although books will not be permitted out on loan, copies may be made. All are welcome to visit the library, which will be open between 10am and 4pm.

Here are the links for domestic legal cases and international conventions and treaties, as well as a list of the contents of the legal library at Centre for Justice offices.
