Photos: Somerset Defeat Colts In Shield Final
The Somerset Eagles met up with the Devonshire Colts at the National Sports Centre today [Jan 1], with the Somerset Eagles claiming a 2 – 0 win and being named the 2013/14 Shield Champions.
The two teams went into the half-time break with Somerset Eagles leading 1 – 0, after Marcus Simmons headed the ball past a stranded Gregory Rose in goal to open up the scoring.
The second half was much like the first, with Devonshire Colts continuously putting pressure on the Somerset Eagles defense. Somerset Eagles goalkeeper Karl Brown made save after save to keep the score at 1 – 0.
However late in the second half, Marcus Simmons scored again to earn the Somerset Eagles a 2 – 0 win over the Devonshire Colts.
This was the second game of a triple header scheduled for today, with the first match seeing the PHC Zebras win the PDL Final after defeating the Dandy Town Hornets 4 – 1.
