Cable Fault Affects Power In Harrington Sound

February 10, 2014

Today [Feb 10] at 11:01am, approximately 520 BELCO customers in the Harrington Sound area lost power due to an underground cable fault. Within an hour, electricity was restored to 343 customers by re-routing power via a different circuit, leaving 177 without power.

As of approximately 4:30pm, BELCO crews have located the underground fault and have been able to restore power to some additional customers. Currently, 66 customers in the Manor House and Lolly’s Well areas are without power. Their power cannot be restored until repair work is completed.

“At this juncture, we cannot say how long it will take to excavate, repair and re-energise the cable. We expect that work could continue into tomorrow morning,” a BELCO spokesperson said.

“We thank customers for their patience, as we work to restore power to the Manor House and Lolly’s Well areas.”
