Chas Smith Named Dalhousie Rookie Of Year

Chas SmithDalhousie University recently held their 60th Annual Black and Gold Athletic Awards Banquet, with Bermuda’s Chas Smith picking up two awards, including Rookie of the Year Honours.

Smith was named the Most Valuable Player in track and field, as well as the school’s overall male Rookie of the Year.

This comes on the heels of his recent record breaking showing, in which the Bermudian shattered Dalhousie’s triple jump record, with his leap of 14.66 setting a new record at the Canadian University.

The talented young athlete — who is studying engineering — is set to represent Bermuda in both the triple jump and long jump at the 2014 CARIFTA Games which is presently taking place in Martinique.

    Bernews, any word on how the athletes are doing on day 1 of Carifta in Martinique? Haven’t been able to find any live streams or results. Help!

      We have the same issue as you, and seems everyone does judging by the conversation on Twitter. They have only posted a few results, and none included any of our athletes.

      It’s not confirmed, but looks like one of our jumpers may have a medal, but there is some issue with winds/clearance and no final results yet. We are combing everywhere looking, and are also in contact with Donna Watson, and soon as we get anything concrete we will post!

    Found one, only seems to come on with the evening events. Famous 2nd in high jump. Scraders 2nd in 1500. Darrell 4th in 1500. Minors 3rd in 1500. Tiarah is currently participating in the shot put.
