Manders Receives National Jr Elite Scholarship
The Bermuda Cricket Board [BCB] announced that Tre Manders [pictured] has been awarded a National Junior Elite Athlete Scholarship from the Department of Youth, Sport and Recreation to attend a unique training opportunity at the home of cricket, Lords.
During this time, Tre will be coached by a team of internationally experienced Level 4 coaches in state of the art facilities of the MCC.
This includes Hawk-eye video analysis, an individual strength and conditioning plan and a complete player preparation program. In addition, the program includes three weekend residential camps.
President of the BCB, Lloyd Fray stated, “During his recent visit, ICC High Performance Manager, Andy Pick, an ECB Level 4 Coach, identified Tre as one of Bermuda’s brightest prospects.
“Tre started in our Academy at the age of 11 in the U13s and soon progressed through the program making his debut for the senior team at only 18 years old during the WCL Div 3. During the ICC T20 WCQ in Dubai, Tre played 80% of the games cementing his position in the senior team
“. He scored 45 not out in the game v Denmark helping Bermuda win by 9 wickets. The ICC awarded him MVP for the game, a huge achievement for him at only 18 years old. Tre has scored hundreds in domestic cricket and the annual Cup Match Classic and has played for both Western Stars Sports Club and Bailey’s Bay Cricket Club.”
Mr. Fray concluded, “On behalf of the Board, I would like to congratulate Tre on this achievement and I am sure that he will make the most of the opportunity. I would also like to take this time to thank the Bermuda Government for their continued support of our young talented athletes and I look forward to following Tre’s progress over the course of the scholarship.”
