Re-Certification Testing For Welders Next Week
The Department of Workforce Development advised today that next week it will host a mandatory re-certification testing for welders.
A spokesperson said, “The testing will take place from April 27 – May 4, 2014 at the Bermuda College in their welding facility. There will be two testing sessions per day and space is limited.
“This re-certification testing is at no cost to the participant and individuals in the local welding trade who have yet to sign up for the testing are encouraged to contact the Department of Workforce Development at 294-9176 or by emailing jlwelch@gov.bm to register.
The National Occupational Certification Act 2004 paragraph 4(3) states that:
A person shall not work or be employed in a designated occupation which requires compulsory certification unless that person has been granted a National Occupational Certificate in that occupation.
Welder is a designated occupation as per the National Training Board (Welder) Regulations 2008 and requires that persons working in the occupation be Nationally Certified.
“And as a special note, next week’s testing course will be the only re-certification testing for welders during this calendar year,” the spokesperson added.

This should also apply to many others doing menial jobs that just about anyone of us can do yet an individual is here from elsewhere doing
