The International Trademark Association’s [INTA] “Maintaining the Perfect Partnership” conference was held March 4th – 5th  in New York City.

Amicus Law Chambers Ltd’s Trademark Manager, Nina Webb traveled to New York City to participate in the event and hopes to share vital Intellectual Property [IP] matters with enthusiasts.

INTA President Mei-Ian Stark opened two-day session of meetings in hope that each attendee would leave New York with a greater understanding of the content in relation to present position.

The meetings offered attendees – all of whom work in the IP industry — with the opportunity to develop and improve inter-relationship skills between in-house and outside counsel.

The abundance of information and advice received from a forum between speakers and attendees was invaluable, Ms Webb said.

Topics such as the – “Do’s and Don’ts of Client Satisfaction: What to do and what not to do] to become and stay Outside Counsel”, “Best Practices and Secrets to Effective Communication for In-House and Outside Counsel”, “Fees and Budges: Can Clients and Outside Counsel Agree?’ and “Ethics – To tell or Not to Tell” provided invaluable experience from panel speakers as well as tips for agents wanting to continually maintain effective and profitable local and international relationships.

Paperless communication, attachment free emails, a solid understanding of each jurisdiction and the importance of delivering according to a client’s needs were among the skills that legal counsel [both in-house and out-house] were encouraged to improve upon.
