BBFS Competes In 6th Football/Life Skills Tour
Bermuda’s Brazilian Football School [BBFS] traveled to Philadelphia from Thursday, May 22 through Tuesday, May 27 in order to participate in the Eastern Development Cup [EDP] in Hammonton, New Jersey. The tournament saw a total of 264 teams compete during two days of competitive play. BBFS competed in the Ruby bracket [8v8] and Silver bracket [11v11] versus teams from the United States and Canada.
A spokesperson said, “The BBFS U11’s recorded two wins and two losses to finish third in the Ruby bracket out of eight teams. After ending day one without a win, the boys bounced back to light up the tournament with some outstanding technical displays.
“Jarryd Richardson, Khiry Hollis, Amir Thomas, Ajani Burchall, and Riley Robinson were the outstanding players for the U11s. With BBFS defeated 6-5 by Match Fit Academy FC of New Jersey on day one, the team exacted revenge by defeating Match Fit 7-4 in the consolation final.
“The BBFS U14s went down in all three matches and ended the tournament without a win. The boys were able to compete for the first 15-20 minutes in each match but were gradually out-muscled and outclassed by their opponents.
“There were a few positives as BBFS managed to score first in each match with each goal being executed at a very high technical level. Notable performances were displayed by San-tze Burgess, Deandre Ball, Micah Mendes, Chemarl Henry, and Ashon Hart.
“The BBFS tour party consisted of players from Hamilton Parish Workman’s Club, Somerset Cricket Club, North Village Community Club, St. David’s Cricket Club, Devonshire Colts Football Club, Bermuda Athletic Association [BAA], Valencia FC, and Dellwood Middle School and Dandy Town.
