The first annual Berkeley Green and Gold Alumni Ball was held on Saturday, May 17, bringing together alumni of the Berkeley Institute in order to enjoy dinner, entertainment, and dancing, all the while taking the time to remember their experience at the school.

A spokesperson said, “The first ever Alumni Ball was a great success. The night was opened by Lady Carmela Robinson, Student Council President, and Ryan Robinson Perinchief, Student Council Treasurer.

“Over 100 Berkeleyites were entertained by Patrina “Powergirl” Paynter, the MC of the night. Other entertainment included a solo rendition by Rhema Webb-Hollis, a dance performance by the Berkeley Dance department, and more.”

“Various Berkeleyites took to the stage to speak of their Berkeley experience, including Ms. Isaacs, a 91-year-old Berkeleyite who graduated in 1951.

“Throughout the night, Lucinda Spurling and colleagues were filming scenes for a documentary about the Berkeley Institute.

“The event organisers would like to extend a special thanks to Student Council Advisor Mr. Romeo Ruddock.”

Funny how everybody called the New Building that, no matter when they came Berkeley! The newer Berkleyites tell me it is actually the Furbert Bldg. LoL. Is this true? Always be the New Building to me!

SAD THAT I DID NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS EVENT AS A BERKELEY GRADUATE OF 1974 – 4Oth ANNIVERSARY THIS YEAR ON JULY 5, 2014. WE HAD THE FIRST COTILLION BALL AT THE HOLIDAY INN (a.k.a. CLUB MED SITE). OUR COTILLION DANCE WAS TAUGHT TO US BY DAME JENNIFER SMITH. WE ALSO INTRODUCED THE BERKELEY GRADUATION RING.
