Planning Dept. To Host Historic Buildings Tours

This Saturday [May 10] the Department of Planning will be hosting a series of free tours of several of Bermuda’s most treasured buildings and locations including churches, National Trust farmlands and historical forts and ruins.

A spokesperson said, “Members of the public are encouraged to participate in the tours of these treasured and unique sites, some of which are not often open to the public.

“Tour times are from 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 pm. Interested individuals are encouraged to call 297-7781 for more information or email rmlowery@gov.bm.”

    Sounds and looks like a good plan. Should be enjoyable. But tell me, with its rich history and legacy, why isn’t the Alexandrina Hall on Court Street part of this.

    Alexandrina Hall was, after all, completed in 1852 and its builders were remarkable men. Its antiquity alone should have it on this list.

    So why isn’t it on the list?
