[Written by Carmen Jones] Can I just say wow! What an amazing group of talented students led by their Art Educator Darceann Tucker-Ephraim.

The range of the children’s works encompasses the elements and principles of design as well as color theory. There are paintings using just the primary colors. There are paintings using emotion and feeling.

There are sculptures telling stories. There are artworks hanging from the ceilings. There are drawings. Children’s art works are always special and a joy to view; I could see the passion, creativity, thought, and caring that each child took producing their masterpieces.

Some art works of note are:

  • Tulip Fields done in the manner of Monet by Primary 3
  • Primary color paintings by the Primary 5 Students
  • The Distorted Masks by Primary 4, 5, and 6 Students

Many times when adults view children’s artwork they may think that children are just playing around- guess what? They are! But they are also learning- they learn technique, problem solving, social skills, manipulation of materials, and mostly that Art is important to life. When viewing this show that is what is really evidenced? Picasso said, “ Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.” This show truly demonstrates this.

  2. Oh what color can do for the imagination. These students have been given a great opportunity. Keep up the good teaching to the Teacher and continue to see the world in art to the Students. Such a joy to see this collection of students’ works.

The artwork is spectacular! It is wonderful to see such a positive expression from our primary aged school children. Kudos to Ms. Ephraim, who was instrumental in giving the community this display of beauty and creativity.
