Event To Feature PRISM; Bernews Giveaway

[Updated] As a part of the City Fashion Festival, on Tuesday, July 8, 2014, a presentation at Fort Hamilton from 6.30pm through 9.00pm will showcase designer Anna Laub’s brand PRISM, the featured international designer for 2014. The event is invite only, however there are a limited number of tickets available on ptix.bm.

In order to highlight the upcoming event, Bernews will be giving away a pair of PRISM sunglasses to one lucky reader. Simply leave a comment below and we’ll randomly select a winner, giving you the opportunity to pick up your brand new high-end eyewear at City Hall in Hamilton. A winner will be chosen and notified by email on July 12, 2014; only one entry person will be eligible for the draw.

A spokesperson said, “Anna Laub took her first steps towards a fashion career early on, signing a modelling contract aged just 13. But after graduating with a BSc in Psychology and Philosophy from Bristol University, she decided she wanted to see a different side of the industry and went on to gain experience working behind the scenes with designer Hussein Chalayan and not-for-profit company GenArt.”

“In 2005 she joined the leading online trend-forecasting site WGSN, where she found her niche engaging in the world of style and design journalism, rising to Head of Content for Europe. In 2009 she took on the role of Editor of The Observer’s biannual fashion supplement, O:Woman, redesigning the magazine and helming her final issue in February 2012 to focus on PRISM.”

“PRISM was launched in 2009, by founder/creative director Ms. Laub, born out of a desire for optical glasses that were both fashionable and functional. Each item is named after a destination it was inspired by.

“Celebrating traditional craftsmanship, the PRISM eyewear collection is hand made in a family run factory in the Treviso region of Italy, the historic home of glasses-making. Acetates are exclusively developed for us or chosen from an archive of blocks dating back to 1849, each handmade frame is cut from these blocks and thus is as unique as the wearer.”

“Similarly, PRISM swimwear follows the same aesthetic, with minimalist designs that focus on the perfect fit for each body type, structure and attention to detail, also made in Italy. The collection is made to mix and match shapes, styles and sizes, as well as each piece having detachable straps to avoid unsightly tan lines.”
