PLP Commend Commonwealth Games Athletes

“On behalf of the Progressive Labour Party, I extend congratulations to our Commonwealth Games participants who represented Bermuda well in Glasgow, Scotland,” Shadow Minister Michael Weeks said today.

“Special mention goes to Flora Duffy, who finished 8th in the triathlon, Heptathlete Shianne Smith who achieved a personal best in the 800m, and swimmer Roy-Allan Burch who achieved a personal best in 100m freestyle.

Mr. Weeks added, “In addition, we offer encouragement to the remainder of the Bermuda Team who with continued commitment and dedication to their crafts, we are sure will have bright futures in athletics.”

Bermuda was represented at the Commonwealth Games by the 18-strong team of Arantxa King, Shianne Smith, Aaron Evans, Harold “Tre” Houston, Tyrone Smith, Shaquille Dill, Nicole Mitchell, Dominique Mayho, Gemma Lightbourne, Micah Franklin, Robert Maycock, Nicholas Kyme, Julian Fletcher, Roy-Allan Burch, Flora Duffy, Tucker Murphy, Tyler Butterfield, and Jonathan Herring.

      and this is where people suggest there are paid OBA commentators about – the PLP makes any positive comment about something, and there are those who will troll away. Give it a rest.

    Funny how you all spit on the PLP, but don’t complain that your current Government has not congratulated our athletes – that’s a paradox, don’t you think??

    We expect our two Governments to Govern this country with a view to improving our economy and make a better life for us all .

    We do not expect Governments to be cheer leaders.

    There is much business to deal with.

    Great to see the PLP commend somebody and actually write something positive for a change. We are tired of them moaning all the time and criticizing the ruling party at every possible moment. The PLP could do no better and they know it. In fact they proved it for 14 years.

    So keep up with the positive community comments please. You just might have found your vocation.
