Video: Callon Burns Of Coconut Rockets
A video highlighting the performance of Callon Burns of Coconut Rockets at the Flyboard North American Championships, held last June in Toronto, Canada, has been released, showing the moves that earned him a third place finish in the competition.
The event, which was the first ever North American Championships, included some of the top flyboarders from around the world, with competitors from nations including Argentina, Australia, Canada, Columbia, Mexico, Spain, and the United States.
In describing Mr. Burns’ performance, Flyboard Magazine previously said, “Callon Burns [is] not letting the colder water bother this pilot from Bermuda. Amazing combos, double back flip, and tight spins.”
In an interview with Flyboard Magazine, Mr. Burns said, “Growing up on an island so small, makes it very easy to reach the water whether or not it’s beaches or docks within minutes of leaving your doorstep irregardless of what part of the island your located in so most Bermudians grow up being just as comfortable in the water as they are on land.”

When asked how he got into flyboarding, Mr. Burns said, “[I met] Charlie Swan, Michael Swan’s [of the Coconut Rockets] older brother, as well as owner of Batson & Swan Plumbing, a business I was applying for work with.
“Things were slow and rather than sending me away, he insisted I speak to his younger brother before I left his office. With nothing to lose, I decided I’d see what Michael had to offer.
“Mike’s first words were, ‘I’m about to bring maybe the coolest thing ever to Bermuda and I just need one more guy on my team to make this work,’ and with that said he pulled up YouTube and pressed play on this video.
“I watched maybe a few minutes of it, pretty awestruck at what I was seeing, and he asked, ‘Are you in?’ My response was, ‘Hell yeah.”

This is awesome work. Buddy’s got graceful syncopation of his movements, and demonstrates a good variety of tough-looking stunts. It’s hard to even imagine 1st and 2nd place, when a performance of that quality came in 3rd overall.
This is truly bad-A$$.
