This bodes well for Bermuda tourism.

Amazing how the usual suspects rant and rave about the BTA, which is 90%+ Bermudian staffed, being headed up a foreigner while they remained silent dummies when Mr. Griffith and Anne Schutte, two foreigners, were appointed by the PLP to be directors of tourism.

    Strange that inna?

Hypocrisy is a concept the PLP have embraced like a warm blanket for many years. Let’s not forget they pursued the privatization of the DOT’s NYC office, thereby displacing many long serving and dedicated Bermudians, but were the first ones to cry foul when the BTA was introduced even though it’s majority staffed by Bermudians.

They think voters should conveniently ignore Government decision making and accountability from 1998-2012 but miraculously become selective memory savants for the years preceding and following.

PLP – putting the party before country since 1998; one unemployed and debt ridden voter at a time.

Good luck Barbados. He will take you down too HAHAHAHAHAHA

The new entity which replaces the now defunct Barbados Tourism Authority ! No need to wonder why that happened . I have a sneaky feeling that the UBP/OBA in their research knew that the Bermuda Tourism Authority is basically a friends and family package deal , not designed to succeed in the way Bermuda needs it to succeed .

  5. Coffee says:

Did Barbados poach Billy Griffith because his salary was public knowledge ? Did Billy go to Barbados because Barbados Tourism Authority was trashed ?
It seems that the stupid UBP/OBA is one step behind the rest of the competition .

  6. SAGE says:

First, Barbados’ tourism is doing way better than Bermuda’s tourism product. Next, Mr Griffith is returning home as he is Bajan. Gus Logie and others came here to Bermuda to raise the profile of Bermudian cricket and ledt in disgust because of ingrained attitudes. In Barbados the motto was “tourism is our business”. Bajans were taught that and practised it. Is tourism Bermuda’s busines? Tourism is about team work not one person necessarily. A guest to Bermuda must be treated like a guest in our own home. Word of mouth is more powerful than any million dollar marketing campaign! The Green family must be commended for their work thus far. Together we can improve and sustain Bermuda’s product.

    Well said Sage.
